2008 Nominees for Treasurer
Candidate Statements
Candidates are listed in alphabetical order.
Hillel Drazin
As a permanent resident of the neighborhood who first came to the Young Israel over 10 years ago and who has been a dedicated member in good standing for almost 7 years, I have decided that given the recent growth in both population and programming, I would like to once again have the opportunity to assume a more active role in helping to shape the future of the shul.
I was actively involved (as Treasurer on the Executive Board) in re-shaping the make-up of the Board approximately 4 years ago, and view the current climate at the shul as one in which the board can be productive in continuing to develop the Young Israel's role within the Upper West Side community.
Billy Kukielka
I have served on the board for two years now and have been fortunate to work with a lot of dedicated board members. To think of all the progress we have made from then till now, yet there is so much more to be done. It is my intention to raise money for the shul in ways that have never been done before, such as a Shul calendar that has paying ads as opposed to just nice pictures this is a project that Matthew Hiltzik and I have taken on. Casino Nights this has yet to get Rabbinical approval. But most importantly is getting the YIWS an exclusive caterer that will not only serve our needs but bring in new business for our social hall and sanctuary. This deal is close to being solidified. As Treasurer I hope to create cash flow from other sources other than the membership.
