2008 Nominees for President
Candidate Statements
Shneur Gershuni
I have served on the board for the past four years, most recently as the First Vice President. What I have learned over the past several years is that the role of President is one of the most difficult roles as it requires the individual to act as both a leader and be a back up for everyone on the board. The buck stops with the President. In the past four years, I have chaired many different committees including communications, gabbais, high-holiday, fundraising, operations… I believe each of these roles has served to round out my experience and positions me well to move up into the President role and hit the ground running in 2008.
While there has been tremendous progress over the past couple of years with respect to membership growth and programming; more can be done as we currently operate in a deficit. My primary focus in the upcoming year will be to shrink the deficit by being actively engaged in growing our membership base, offering more competitive programming to help bring in new members to the shul while maintaining all the progress that has been made over the past several years.
Bottom line: my experience allows me to hit the ground running as I have engaged in most of the operational aspects of the shul and thereby be able to concentrate on providing our existing members with a broader array of programming and focus on encouraging new members to join.
