While I am personally not comfortable writing about myself as I find this entire process to be anything but modest I feel I have no choice under the circumstances. I have been “involved” with the shul for the past year and half and a member for close to 4 years. I have run or co-hosted a number of successful events over this period, including all Friday night dinners and being active in the guest lecture series. Most recently I represented The Young Israel at a “synagogue leadership conference” with Rabbi Cohen. I have a track record of leadership both within the Young Israel as well as the broader Jewish community. If elected, I would like to continue running programs and events that are designed for US and OUR congregation. I plan to have people fill our surveys so I can get a better idea of what OUR shul wants and I will do my best to deliver the results in the form of programs and events. Overall, if you prefer someone who gets along with most people and has a proven track record I welcome your vote. If you want to learn more about my past accomplishments for The Young Israel or my many ideas for the future, please do not hesitate to contact me at joe@earllp.com

Dear Members,
I urge all of you to vote for me for Delegate to the National Council in the upcoming YIWS election. As I am a recent member of the Shul, I will bring a new and unbiased outlook for ways of improving our vibrant Shul. I will also suggest various new ideas for the upcoming new year, including visions to increase the Shul's membership, programming and revenue. Further, I will also make myself available to assist in the Shul's various activities and every-day necessities. Quite simply, I am running because I believe I can help in continuing to make the Shul a vital and integral part of the Community.
Wishing you and yours a happy and healthy new year, I remain,
Yaakov Zachter

I don’t think telling you what I will do for the shul in the future will get your vote. I do, however, think that reminding you of my hard work and dedication to the shul will speak for itself. After serving as treasurer of the Women’s League in 2006, I was elected to the executive board. While serving on the board, I was the chair of the 2007 annual dinner which raised a record amount. I also co-hosted the first scholar in residence weekend featuring Nathan Lewin. Another effort that I am proud to be involved with was the re-establishment of the hospitality committee which I chair. Together the committee calls all new members to welcome them to our shul and most recently hosted a lunch for new members to meet others in the community. Besides all my volunteer work, I am also a dedicated member of the YI by attending shul almost every week and becoming a fan of Rabbi Cohen’s weekly Women’s Tefilah class. I hope I can continue to make this shul a better place in 2008 and welcome any suggestions.
