Womens League 2nd Annual Clothing Drive
for Yad Leah
Date: Sunday March 30th
Time: 9am - 5pm
Place: Young Israel of the West Side - 210 West 91st Street
The clothing is being donated to Yad Leah, an organization that provides clothes to various needy communities throughout Israel. At Yad Leah, families have the opportunity to "shop" for their clothes, which helps maintain their sense of dignity. Please see below for more information.
We are seeking infant, child and adult clothing, as well as any miscellaneous items (linens, towels, tablecloths etc.) that are in excellent condition. Please drop off the clothes at the Young Israel on Sunday, March 30.
In addition, we are looking for volunteers to assist the day of the clothing drive. Please contact Melanie Sosland if you are able to volunteer.
If you have any additional questions, please e-mail or call Melanie Sosland at melaniesosland@yahoo.com or 917-549-3938.
Please forward this information to your friends. About Yad Leah (www.yadleah.org)
Yad Leah, a miracle masquerading as a local community thrift shop
Through individual donations, schools, synagogues, UJA Northern NJ, and community center clothing drives, Yad Leah collects a range of clothing for infants, children, men, women and maternity. They also collect jackets, hair accessories, hats, linens, towels, tablecloths, handbags, school bags, and cosmetics.
Each article of clothing begins its journey at community drop off sites in the United States, travels 6000 miles across the ocean and finally reaches its destination in the home of a needy Jewish family.
Along the way, every article is evaluated for quality and style and then sorted and packed neatly in a box earmarked for a specific community in Israel. Once unpacked and displayed in the store, the clothing brings unimaginable joy to the recipients.
