Yiws welcomes guest speaker Rabbi Kalman Samuels, founder of Shalva, on Shabbos morning, February 4th, 2012, Parshat B'Shlach. Shalva is focused on providing special needs children with a therapeutic & supportive environment, enabling families to raise that child while living a normal and healthy lifestyle. Since its founding in 1990, Shalva has received numerous awards and prizes from Israeli government and has recently broken ground on the soon-to-be Shalva National Children's Center in Jerusalem.
Join Rabbi Cohen and Benny Amar for Cholent & Whiskey, Friday Night, February 10th, 2012, at 680 West End Ave. (93rd St.) Apt 6A. It will be a night of great Divrei Torah and Zemiros!

Community Member-Led Shiurim:
Sunday Mornings at 7am, in the YIWS Beis Medrash. join YIWS member Dr. Ricky Goldfarb in exploring the Parsha with Rashi Commentary.
Tuesday Mornings following Shacharis, in the YIWS Beit Midrash, stay a few minutes longer and hear a short drasha on the Parsha conducted by Rabbi Yitzchak Mann.
Friday Mornings at 6am in the YIWS Beis Medrash, join Reuben Ebrahimov as he leads a shiur on the weekly Haftorah. Reuben has led haftorah drashas at many shuls in the metro NY area and you will be impressed by his unique insights into the weekly haftorah.
Knitting Class:
The next YIWS knitting for charity session will be held on Monday, February 6th, at the home of Rebbetzin Ruchi Cohen at 680 West End Avenue from 8 to 10pm. If you need any yarn for either IDF has or baby blankets, please contact paulagantz@aol.com. We now have stock of both dark and light colors.
New Membership Category:
The Young Israel of the West Side has introduced a new membership category. If you are 30 years old or younger, or if the sum age of you and your spouse is below 60 years old, you can sign up for the Young Leadership/Single ($275) or Young Married ($500) annual membership. YIWS' website reflects these newly introduced rates, so that you can easily sign up online.
