Welcome to the Young Israel of the West Side

As you peruse our pages, you will discover a unique community on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Our mantra is "Building a Sense of Community in Manhattan." In our shul, you will feel welcome, wanted and at-home. Our gorgeous old-European style main sanctuary seats 1200 (800 men & 400 women) and certainly contributes to awe-inspiring and uplifting traditional services. Our community is diverse, comprised of singles, young married couples, young married families, established families as well as a few "older-statesman" that have been with us for many years. Our mission is the study of Torah on the highest levels, engaging our many children of all ages in the beauty of our heritage and enhancing and facilitating social interactions of congregants through our various clubs and innovative programming. Community Member-Led Shiurim:

Sunday Mornings at 7am, in the YIWS Beis Medrash. join YIWS member Dr. Ricky Goldfarb in exploring the Parsha with Rashi Commentary.

Tuesday Mornings following Shacharis, in the YIWS Beit Midrash, stay a few minutes longer and hear a short drasha on the Parsha conducted by Rabbi Yitzchak Mann.

Friday Mornings at 6am in the YIWS Beis Medrash, join Reuben Ebrahimov as he leads a shiur on the weekly Haftorah. Reuben has led haftorah drashas at many shuls in the metro NY area and you will be impressed by his unique insights into the weekly haftorah.

Knitting for Charity Group:

The next YIWS Knitting session will meet Monday, June 17th from 8pm to 10pm at the home of Rebbetzin Ruchi Cohen, 680 West End Ave, Apt 6A.

A new feature has been added to the group. A short shiur and discussion will be led by a different group member each month. Please join us and participate.

New Membership Category:

Young/Leadership = $250

Married = $500

The Young Israel of the West Side has introduced a new membership category. If you are 30 years old or younger, or if the sum age of you and your spouse is below 60 years old, you can sign up for the Young Leadership/Single ($250) or Young Married ($500) annual membership. YIWS' website reflects these newly introduced rates, so that you can easily sign up online.
